Suits

Yves Saint Laurent. Probably everyone has seen this photograph about million times, but it's something you just can't skip when talking about women's suits.

Marlene Dietrich, no wonder we still adore her.

And then a few pics from next fall's collections. I prefer the ChloƩ's one.

Moschino Fall 2009

Richard Chai Fall 2009

And finally my favorite: Louise Brooks, a silent movie star who hasn't lost her charm. She wears it well. Not to diss Marlene Dietrich, but Brooks wears it...in a more mysterious way?

Inspiration: Filonov

Peasant Family (Holy Family), 1914. Oil on canvas.

Flowers of the Universal Flowering, 1916. Oil on canvas.

A White Picture, 1919. Oil on canvas.

At the Table, 1912-1913. Oil on canvas.

Pavel Filonov (1883-1941) was a Russian painter, poet and art theorist. He refused to sell his works hoping to create a museum of analytical art, and was forgotten for decades because his art didn't correspond to social realism, which was the only art movement allowed in USSR. Filonov actually died of hunger during the siege of Leningrad on December 3rd 1941. His works were saved by his sister Evdokia Glebova and later she gave his paintings and graphic works to the Russian State Museum, which is where nearly all of them can now be found.
His first personal exhibition took place only in 1988, more than 50 years after his death.

I absolutely love Filonov's works and find them extremely beautiful and inspirational. You?
